Kemboi alleged for assault Njeri

The Kenyan athlete Ezekiel Kemboi Cheboi (30), winner of the 3000 meters steeplechase at the Summer Olympics, are alleged for assault against Ann Njeri Otine on 28 June 2012 at night.

Anne Njeri Otieno alleges that the athlete attacked her when she declined his sexual advances either the magistrate granted the athlete bail and said he would be allowed to travel to London to compete in the Olympics. Mr Kemboi, are serving policeman, was charged at the Eldoret law courts with assaulting Ms Otieno and released on bail of $595 (£385). He is due back in court in September 2012.
"I am already in the team for the London Olympic Games. I would like your honor to give me time to take part in the competition," the AFP news agency quotes him as saying.
Kemboi had been charged with assaulting Njeri on June 28 near her parent's home in West Indies Estate in Eldoret town. "He did not even know that I was coming to withdraw the case. I just came here and decided that I will withdraw the matter.
The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko was yet to make a decision on the case after he recalled the file two month ago. Other unconfirmed reports indicated that Prime Minister Raila Odinga's wife Ida had played a role in reconciling the two families to reach an agreement and withdraw the case.
